Longchamp

So, my Mom went to Cebu as a gift to herself for her birthday, but I felt like it was my bday whe she came back home.
She bought me all kinds of goodies; a shoe rack, glass box for cotton pads, cake from Leona's, chocolates from Marks & Spencer, and a fisherman's hat for Jacob. Last but not least, she bought me this...

Gorgeous, yes? I love Longchamp! My fascination with the brand began when my mom scored an original at a tiangge, and let's just say they didn't know how much an original is worth. hehe. Few people carry them here in Davao too. All those fake LV's are such eyesores.

Thank you Ma! Now I can't make taray and I have to do everything you say. Ngeks.

Green-Minded

Of course I'm not talking about that kind of "green".

Taking the first step towards going green and caring for the environment are retail stores
Ensembles, Freeway, Solo, and 22BC, who have decided to use Oxy-biodegradable plastic bags.

These bags are a different kind of plastic bag. Thay have a much faster decay rate, taking only a few months, unlike ordinary plastic bags that take a hundred years to decay, if not take forever.

The catch though (there always is one, isn't there?) is that the material needs to be exposed to high temperatures and oxygen to fully disintegrate.

At least they're starting to build awareness and not continue to be apathetic to the environment's demise.

Nikon User

My cousin Astrid was in Davao this morning. She wanted me to accompany her at Focus Lab for her lens shopping, she's buying a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8. And she came prepared, bringing something to test the lens' focus. I miss my photography days, however short they may have been. She's encouraging me to go back. I'm still crossing my fingers for the Canon g10 though.

Meanwhile here's what Astrid wore today. Cute, yes?

Hermione Granger isdatchu!??

Emma Watson has grown up before our eyes. From that frizzy haired little girl in Harry Potter, to the elegant and beautiful London ingenue that she is today. I have yet to see the new Harry Potter movie, but I'm guessing she did a lot of growing up. Here are some photos from the Burberry AW 2009 Campaign and you'll see what I mean.

The Wedding

I was just a guest, thank God! I can't stand the drama of being involved in the preparations. Anyways...

As I mentioned in my previous post, here is the dress that I wore. I had it tailor-made since it's quite difficult for me to find a dress for my size (being in a country that caters to smaller-sized people). I loved the fit of the dress. But the shoes spoiled the night for me. Maybe because I haven't worn heels for the longest time. Or maybe because I've gained so much weight since I had Jacob. Whatevs. I went home earlier than my parents (who were still dancing, btw.) because I missed Jacob. Who's getting old? Hmp!

Go Organic

It may be difficult at first but why don't we give it a try?

I have been taking a second look at ordinary household products ever since I had my baby. Does it have harmful chemicals? Will it have adverse effects on our health, on the planet, if we use it?

According to the website Human Heart Nature, organic products are those that are processed with absolutely no synthetic chemicals. From food that is organically grown, beauty products, household cleaning materials, even fabric, many are jumping in to the organic lifestyle.

I am certainly including in my resolutions to consume mostly organic products from now on. A good website to start shopping for organic household products, organic baby products, & organic beauty products is Ecomarket, and Human Heart Nature.

Start now. Do your part in caring for the planet, and for your own health as well.

Here is an article from the website Blorganics.com, naming 8 reasons to Go Organic in food:

  1. A non-organic fruit has an average of 20 pesticides in it.
  2. Along with the farm and dairy products that you take, you also ingest drugs, growth hormones, and chemicals given to the animals.
  3. Organic food has a high content of minerals, vitamins, and fiber. It retains this high content of nutrients for a longer time.
  4. Taking in high levels of nutrients increases the resistance power of your body and keeps diseases at bay.
  5. You feel more energetic, as organic food has lower toxin and chemical levels that causes lethargy.
  6. Organic farms make efficient use of water resources and do not percolate pollutants and nitrogen from their soil.
  7. Organic producers have to meet strict industry standards before their produce is approved for marketing.
  8. Organic food tastes better than non-organic food.
